How Namora Works

Your Behaviour Change Algorithm

This tool is a constant work in progress - on purpose. Just as the world is ever-changing, problems are ever-evolving and the research is constantly developing, this tool helps learners to tailor solutions for their specific issues and contexts and aims to apply current research to our interventions.

How does it work?

Namora maps 32 evidence-based behaviour change theories and aligned interventions as defined within the Intervention Mapping protocols. Namora includes the levels of the Social-Ecological Model, Level 1 of the Behavioural Drivers Model, the TransTheoretical Model with tailored assessment data collection and barrier analysis tools. Applying behaviour change to your work does not have to be overwhelming when using Namora.

How do I use Namora?

In each step of the behaviour change process, we teach learners the bare basics of what they need to know. Namora then gives a specific prompt for each step for you and your team to answer. Provide at least one response to each prompt, hit Submit and Voila! - Namora produces a PDF of tailored suggested interventions and an action plan. You will receive guidance on how to test and verify those interventions that best responds to your needs. This careful and easy planning allows for more likely behaviour change based on evidence and your target audience's barriers, motivations and problems.  Win-win.

Step 1.

ID PROBLEM

Namora teaches learners how to ensure that the learner has a representative team - big or small - to plan behaviour change work.  Namora teaches learners how to pinpoint one specific problem to be addressed by reviewing secondary data about the target. Learners identify the specific problem behaviour they want to change.

Step 2.

determine

Goal

Namora teaches learners how to pinpoint one specific goal behaviour and helps the learner identify the specific behaviour to be adopted or stopped.

Step 3.

ASSESS Doers/

Non-Doers

Namora teaches learners how to conduct a barrier analysis of a specific person, household or group and walks learners through the steps. This data collection is the engine behind what makes Namora purr.

Step 4.

GROUP

DETERMINANTS

Namora teaches learners how the data from that barrier analysis draws our roadmap for change.  In this step, Namora shines brightest as she crunches all that data and identifies the most significant differences between the Doers of the behaviour and the Non-Doers of the behaviour.

Step 5.

GET YOUR

INTERVENTIONS

Using that data and the analysis, Namora keeps working for you as she identifies specific tailored interventions, SEM levels, Behavioural Drivers and a suggested plan of action. Learners receive instruction on how to verify and validate the plan of action with the change committee. And then gives guidance on how to start implementing.

Step 6.

Checking YOUR

INTERVENTIONS

Namora teaches learners how to monitor and make sure that the plan of action is working. Naomra tells you what to look for and what to do if you suspect something is stuck or not effective.
